Home inspiration: green kitchens

Green is my favourite colour, and pictures of green kitchens are irresistible to me! Here are some photos from around the web that make me you-know-what with envy.

And lust.

First up, the kitchen found in the office of Flower Films, Drew Barrymore's production company. It was featured in Domino a few years ago. I think this is my favourite shade of green:

The bright green colour of these kitchen cabinets ("Bed of Pine" by Pratt and Lambert) is pretty bold, especially given the wallpaper! I don't know if I have the courage in my own decorating skills to pull this kind of design off myself:

A totally different shade of green, this one is probably a bit more accessible to the average kitchen re-decorator! Great idea: keep the rest of the kitchen neutral, and add colour in the backsplash tile:

I love the colour combo of white, black and green in this kitchen. The cabinets pop! And they go high to the ceiling, so much storage!:

Yes, this is a dining room, but I like the idea of bringing the green in through the table:

And lastly, another favourite shade of green:

Someone Told Me

Do you know the song "Quelqu'un m'a dit" by Carla Bruni? Apparently it's on the soundtrack to 500 Days of Summer, but I just came across for the first time and I love this little romantic ditty. I've been practicing it on the guitar myself for the last two days, but there's no way I can match Bruni's deep, rich, raspy tone, which I think makes her version so magical.

I actually didn't know Carla Bruni was a singer. I've only known her as the well-dressed, former-model wife of Nicolas Sarkozy. But this performance makes me respect her so much more as an artist! (Although...doesn't she look breathtakingly beautiful in this video?)

Vintage Roberto Capucci

Ooh la la, I am utterly in love with this stunning vintage dress by Roberto Capucci. This look is so innovative, yet timeless: I feel like it could be pulled off in nearly any decade! The three-dimensionality of this look is wonderful. Rarely is a dress both voluminous and sleek, with such harmonious results.

More info about his designs can be found here.

Pull and Bear Spring/Summer 2012 collection

Last year, when I lived in Mexico City, I was introduced to the European clothing chain Pull & Bear. It's in the same family as Zara, but for some reason it's never expanded into the North American market. Their clothing is very chic and stylish, and thankfully also very affordable!

This summer, I will be spending 3 months in El Salvador for work, and although there are many things I'm excited about, from a fashion point of view I'm thrilled that there is a Pull & Bear store! I've just been lusting over their website. Here are a few of my favourites that I'm thinking about snagging when I get there:

Green ombre top with zigzag pattern - $25
Yellow clutch - $25
Bright, sporty and comfy sweater - $25
Pretty scarf - $20
Tribal print skirt - $30
Cobalt peeptoe wedge espadrilles - $40
Romantic floral dress - $46
The perfect shade of teal green jeggings - $30
This chic white blazer is on sale for $30!

How to choose??!!

Murmurations

This stunning video of starlings in flight will give you goosebumps.

Two girls out canoeing in Ireland captured this unbelievable, beautiful, moving act of nature on camera. How brave of them to keep calm! Enjoy.

Built for star-gazing

Even though I find thinking about outer space a bit scary and stressful, I absolutely love observatories from a design and function perspective. There is something lovely about a building constructed entirely for looking at stars.

When I was a child, my parents were professors at the University of Oxford, and my father's office was in the converted dome of the Radcliffe Observatory at Green College. The roof was permanently closed, but the crank to turn the roof still functioned, so on special occasions my dad would let me brother and I go up and turn it. It was so magical!

Do observatories capture your imagination the way they do mine?
